The Grundy County Fair has always been about family, discovery, 4-H, FFA and making memories as far back as 1874. Entertainment has always been at the forefront with livestock shows and nightly activities including early accounts of horse racing and even performing pigs! Racing events have always been a popular draw including Demo derbies, Figure 8 racing, combine demo, trailer races and tractor pulls bringing in the crowds to cheer on locals to racing glory.
Every year we thankfully receive funding from the legislature to upgrade our buildings and facilities. The overall goal is to make the fair bigger and better every year and continue to have the family fair atmosphere where everyone feels safe and has a great time. The family pulled together in 2003 when a storm destroyed our swine and beef building causing us to improvise, consolidate and work together as a county to make the fair happen. And it did in a big way!
With the growth of our community comes the expansion of our clubs and our fair board. It is such a joy to see recent 4-H exhibitors stepping forward to become board members, show superintendents 4-H volunteers and mentors. We are now able to specialize with new members and fresh ideas contributing to make the Grundy County Fair a place you want to be!

The Fair has always been about family, discovery, 4-H, FFA and making memories as far back as 1874. Entertainment has always been at the forefront with livestock shows and nightly activities including early accounts of horse racing and even performing pigs! Racing events have always been a popular draw including Demo derbies, Figure 8 racing, combine demo, trailer races and tractor pulls bringing in the crowds to cheer on locals to racing glory.
Every year we thankfully receive funding from the legislature to upgrade our buildings and facilities. The overall goal is to make the fair bigger and better every year and continue to have the family fair atmosphere where everyone feels safe and has a great time. The family pulled together in 2003 when a storm destroyed our swine and beef building causing us to improvise, consolidate and work together as a county to make the fair happen. And it did in a big way!
With the growth of our community comes the expansion of our clubs and our fair board. It is such a joy to see recent 4-H exhibitors stepping forward to become board members, show superintendents 4-H volunteers and mentors. We are now able to specialize with new members and fresh ideas contributing to make the Fair a place you want to be!

The Howard County Historical Preservation Center is the focal point of the historical, industrial and home life history of the Howard County area.
The Center also houses the Administration Office of the Fair, and the Featherlite Center, a 3,500 sq. ft. climate controlled and fully ADA compliant area that is available for business meetings, various gatherings and training sessions.
The Expo Center is a fully licensed reception and banquet facility, easily accommodating all functions, such as wedding receptions, trade shows, business meetings, community and private events, auctions and fund raising events. The Expo is fully ADA accessible, climate controlled, with seating for up to 500 persons.
Cresco Speedway, a high banked 4/10 mile clay oval, is located on the fairgrounds complex and is host to stock car racing events from May to October every summer.
Howard County Fairgrounds Campground features seasonal camping with water and 30 amp and 50 amp electrical hookups, plus sewer dumping station on grounds. 26 sites are 30′ deep and 16 sites at 70′ deep.
The Reicks View Farms Ag Education Center is a 22,900 square foot livestock facility that opened in time for the 2016 Fair. The Center features a state of the art swine production facility where area youth can raise their fair pigs and at the same time learn about current swine production methods. Also included in the Ag Education Center is an enclosed show arena, housing for the dairy and sheep projects of the youth and public restrooms and showers.
